Self-Concept
Since 2018, Sorora e.V. has been active in Berlin and internationally, formed by women* from various organizations committed to culture, art, and feminism. In 2020, Sorora e.V. was officially established as an association by the following founders: Barbara Bielitz, Carolina Boettner, Ligia Liberatori, Luiza Folegatti, Juliana Huttai, Marcela Villanueva, and Violeta Maluendres González.
Sorora e.V. provides support and visibility to artists who are often underrepresented in traditional artistic spaces. It places gender equality at the center of the creative process and promotes regional and international networking to foster representation and mobility of artists.
Our work as an association focuses on creating feminist alliances and networks, as well as collaborating with other feminist organizations that address power imbalances and multiple forms of discrimination.
The production and organization of cultural and artistic events that are innovative, bold, and of high quality is a key aspect of Sorora e.V. These events aim to stimulate an intersectional debate on feminist perspectives, expand the range of action of participants, and open spaces for exchange, activism, and collaboration. All artists, initiative groups, and projects are welcome, regardless of their background, language, or age.
Sorora e.V. is a platform where ideas, information, knowledge, skills, and resources are generated, showcased, shared, inspired, encouraged, and welcomed — all with the aim of building a less violent and more equitable world through art and culture.
The work of the association focuses on the formation of feminist alliances and alliances as well as networking with other feminist associations or clubs that deal with power differences and multiple discrimination. It should always be ensured that there is a clear majority of members who are read by women and members with multiple discriminations. Furthermore, the main focus of the association’s work is to stimulate an intersectional discussion on the topic of gender and the promotion of gender equality through the production and organization of innovative, high-profile, courageous and innovative art and cultural events, and to open up spaces for exchange, activism, and collaboration. All-female artists*, initiative, and project groups can participate without distinction of origin, language, or age. All in all, the understanding of non-linear and ever-changing feminism is the basis of all discussion. However, the common path towards equality and liberation as well as respect, mutual care, and the creation of networks to change power structures should always be clearly emphasized.
